How to get the Camtasia Black Friday discount

  1. Watch techsmith.com in late November
  2. Compare subscription and perpetual pricing
  3. Buy from TechSmith's own store

What is Camtasia?

Camtasia is a screen recorder with a built-in editor, made by TechSmith. It is built for people who explain software on video: trainers, course creators, support teams. Is it worth buying at full price in October? No. TechSmith has a habit of discounting it in late November, and waiting a few weeks is likely to pay off.

In 2025 TechSmith took about 25% off Camtasia during its sitewide Black Friday sale, and the cut covered both the subscription and the perpetual licence. The sale ran from late November through Cyber Monday, though exact start and end dates were not confirmed by the sources we checked.

Subscription or perpetual?

If both options are on sale again, the choice is about how you work. A subscription keeps you on the newest version. A perpetual licence is a one-off spend that makes sense if your recording needs rarely change. We could not confirm current list prices, so compare both on techsmith.com before you buy.

Camtasia is the wrong tool for cinematic editing, colour grading or multicam projects. A full editor such as DaVinci Resolve Studio is a better fit there. For quick social clips, a browser editor is cheaper. Camtasia earns its price when you record your screen and need callouts, zooms and cursor effects without a steep learning curve.

As of late October 2026, a tracker reports no Camtasia Black Friday 2026 deal yet.
