Proton Drive

What is Proton Drive?

Proton Drive is encrypted cloud storage from the Swiss company behind Proton Mail and Proton VPN. If you want private storage and only need the Drive Plus tier, Black Friday is the best time to subscribe.

In 2025, Proton cut Drive Plus by 60% for the first 12 months. That worked out to $1.99 a month, or $23.88 for the year. The offer applied to the annual plan bought at proton.me, and the price showed up automatically without a code.

The catch

The discount covers the first year. After that, the plan renews at Proton's standard price, so treat $23.88 as an introductory rate rather than the long-term cost. The 2025 sale ran from late November until 5 January 2026, which gave buyers plenty of time.

Proton had not said anything about a 2026 sale as of late October. Given its track record across the Proton product line, a repeat is likely, but we will not guess the percentage.

Proton Drive is a good fit if you already use Proton Mail or Proton Pass and want everything under one account. It is a weaker choice if you rely on real-time collaborative editing in Google Docs or Microsoft 365, since Drive is built around privacy first. Families who need several terabytes should also look at Proton Unlimited instead, which bundles Drive with the other Proton apps.
