What is Brevo?
Brevo, formerly Sendinblue, is an email and SMS marketing platform that charges for emails sent instead of contacts stored. It suits small businesses with a large list that mail it a few times a month. It is a poor match for a store that sends several campaigns a day to the same small audience, because send volume is the meter.
What Brevo actually does
The core is a campaign editor, automation workflows, transactional email and SMS, plus a lightweight CRM and sales pipeline. Contacts are not capped on the free plan, which is the main reason people pick it over tools that bill by list size. You pay when you send more, and the plan you choose also gates features such as automation.
Is the free plan enough?
Third-party reviews in 2026 consistently describe the free plan as 300 emails per day, roughly 9,000 a month, with unlimited contacts. That is workable for a newsletter that goes out weekly to a few thousand people. It stops being workable when you need a one-off blast to a 40,000-person list: at 300 a day that would take months, so you would have to buy a paid plan for the month in question. Free emails also carry Brevo branding, and removing the logo is a paid add-on on the lower tiers according to the roundups we read.
Pricing and where it gets expensive
We could not load Brevo's pricing page in our automated check, so the numbers below come from several independent pricing guides and should be confirmed before you pay. Starter is listed at about $9 a month for 5,000 emails on monthly billing, and Standard at about $18 for the same volume. Professional jumps to around $499 a month. Prices climb with the number of emails per month, so a large list that mails twice a month can land in a much higher volume bracket than you expect. Model your real monthly send count before choosing a tier.
