Snagit

What is Snagit?

Snagit is a screenshot and short screen-recording app from TechSmith, the company behind Camtasia. You grab a window or a scrolling page, mark it up with arrows and text, and share it. It is sold as an annual subscription. Should you hunt for a discount? Yes, but keep expectations modest.

We have no confirmed Snagit deal from 2025. Some coverage suggests Snagit was part of TechSmith's sitewide sale at around 25% off, but no source we trust confirms the figure for Snagit specifically, so we don't list it as a past deal. TechSmith did run a confirmed Black Friday cut on Camtasia in 2025, which makes a Snagit discount plausible, not certain.

Who it suits

Snagit pays for itself if you write documentation, onboarding guides or support replies every day. Annotated screenshots save back-and-forth. For an occasional screenshot, the tools already built into Windows and macOS are enough, and paying a yearly fee makes little sense.

If you need longer, edited tutorial videos rather than quick captures, skip Snagit and look at Camtasia instead. Snagit's recording is designed for short clips.

We could not confirm the current Snagit subscription price, so check the TechSmith checkout page and compare it with any discount you see on coupon sites before paying.
